Planning a Trip With Your Pet?
We know that traveling with a pet means more variables and extra stress, but it can also be a positive experience with some careful planning. By following these tips and tricks brought to you by Thelen Kia in Bay City, Michigan, we hope you can find the fun it can be when bringing your faithful companion along.
4 Tips for Traveling With Your Pet
Take Regular Breaks – If you are taking a longer trip, make sure to schedule enough travel time to allow for regular breaks to take your dog out for a short walk or bring your cat out in their carrier for fresh air. This is important for people, too!
Keep Them Occupied – Much like with kids, packing toys for your pet can keep them occupied and comfortable while in the car, too. Provide your pet with familiar toys from home that can keep them distracted during a longer drive.
Take Shorter Trips – If your pet is not familiar with being in a vehicle, take shorter trips around town with them to familiarize them with the movement of your vehicle and the atmosphere. Give plenty of praise and positive reinforcement during the journey.
Never Leave Your Pets Unattended – Whether or not your pet is restrained, a pet should never be left alone in a vehicle. It does not matter what the weather is like outside; this is a danger to pets and should be avoided.
