Purchasing a Vehicle Is An Exciting Time

Purchasing a new or used vehicle is an exciting time, but it can turn stressful if you are not prepared. You don’t want to bring the process to a grinding halt due to lack of proper paperwork to complete the purchase or financing. Below is a list of the paperwork we here at Thelen Kia in Bay City, Michigan, recommend you bring. We hope this checklist can assist you in being prepared for the vehicle purchasing process!

What Important Paperwork Should I Bring?

Driver’s License – In order to purchase a vehicle, you need to prove that you can legally operate one. Your license can also be shown for proof of address. Plus, if you want to take a test drive, you need to show your license.

Proof of Car Insurance – By bringing in your previous car’s insurance or proof of a new insurance policy, we can allow you to drive a vehicle off the lot. Some insurance companies can even give you a temporary policy that you can fully set up once you purchase.

Form of Payment – If you are paying outright for a vehicle or need to make a down payment, you will need to bring a form of payment. We recommend contacting our dealership for more information on payment forms accepted at Thelen Kia.

Trade-In Title – Are you trading in a vehicle at the time of purchase? You should bring in your current vehicle’s title and registration. These will also help to prove you are the owner of said vehicle.

Finance Information – If you will be financing, there are other documents you will likely need to provide. That includes proof of income. Our finance center team can provide more details on exactly what is needed for your specific situation.
